Scope Reprocessing Tech at Yale New Haven Health summary:
As a Scope Reprocessing Technician, I ensure the cleanliness and
maintenance of endoscopic equipment and the Endoscopy Suite while
supporting patient care activities. My role includes inventory
management, cleaning, sterilization, and decontamination, along
with demonstrating exceptional customer service skills to promote a
positive experience for patients and their families. I adhere to
safety protocols and participate in ongoing professional
development to maintain competency and contribute effectively to
the patient care team.

Under the general direction of the Patient or Clinical Service
Manager and in cooperation with all the members of the patient care
teams, performs a wide range of customer relations, environmental,
patient care, and supply functions to fully support patient care
activities. Although it is necessary to identify specific tasks
relating to this position, the overriding responsibility is to
integrate this role into the patient care model to ensure that the
patient care team works for the good of the patient: other specific
tasks may be added or deleted from the day-to-day
operationalization of this position, as the patient care team
adapts to the daily needs of the patients we serve. Demonstrates an
outstanding commitment to excellent customer service. Patient and
family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with
patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC:
participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and
collaboration. This includes providing service excellence by

Responsibilities
EDUCATION
High school graduate or educational equivalent. Additional
educational training in the fields of inventory management,
maintenance, sterile aseptic technique, biohazardous material
decontamination and disinfecting.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years of related experience preferably in the areas
of inventory management, maintenance and/or biohazardous waste
removal, decontamination/disinfecting, and/or previous CSS/ high
level disinfection experience preferred.
LICENSURE
Certification for sterilization required at hire or within 2 years
of employment. (CBSPD, IAHCSMM/ CRCST, CER)
SPECIAL SKILLS
Demonstrated ability to read, write and perform basic math. Ability
to work independently,. Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to
perform as a part of the patient care team. Demonstrates initiative
and the ability to coordinate diverse responsibilities. Able to
perform skills required for inventory management, biohazardous
waste removal, decontamination, and disinfecting, light maintenance
responsibilities, coordination of area work projects with other
departments related to processing of scopes.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Must be able to life a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to perform
tasks of physical endurance and dexterity as required by placement.
Consistent use of proper body mechanics required. Able to
independently push transport stretcher carrying patients weighing
up to 200 pounds.
