The RN works closely with a multidisciplinary team to manage and monitor patients undergoing dialysis, ensuring optimal care and outcomes in an inpatient setting.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis in an inpatient setting.\n
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, laboratory results, and dialysis-related parameters, ensuring optimal fluid and electrolyte balance.\n
  • Administer dialysis treatments, ensuring equipment is properly set up and functioning, and addressing any complications that arise during dialysis.\n
  • Educate patients on dialysis treatments, including the procedure, expected outcomes, and self-care post-treatment.\n
  • Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.\n
  • Monitor for and respond to complications related to dialysis, such as hypotension, cramping, infections, or electrolyte imbalances.\n
  • Administer medications as prescribed, including anticoagulants, antihypertensives, and other dialysis-related medications.\n
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, dialysis treatments, and interventions.\n
  • Advocate for patients' needs, ensuring timely access to dialysis treatments and other related care.\n
  • Participate in patient education and training programs related to kidney disease, dialysis, and renal health.\n
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families dealing with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease (ESRD).\n
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support the overall care of patients with renal conditions.\n\n\nQualifications:\n

    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.\n
