Shift: Shift 1 Shift Details: Dual Role 16 hours (8hr shifts) of
education and 24 hours (12 hr shifts) of NICU staff nursing

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner is a
Register Nurse with NPD practice judgement and expertise who
influence professional role competence and growth of learners. The
NPD practitioner -
is responsible for supporting learners within the context and
framework of the Nursing Professional Development, Scope and
Standards practice as approved by the American Nurses Association.

This position works in collaboration with nursing leadership to
foster and influence competency management, clinical nursing
education, professional role development, policy standardization,
collaborative partnerships, scientific inquiry, transition to
practice and onboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCare
colleagues.
The practitioner is an essential member of the nursing leadership
team who promotes the alignment of regional NPD and practice
excellence with the HHC system as a whole. Qualifications
Education
BSN required and enrolled in a Master's program with degree
completion within two years of hire date.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience.
At least 1 year of experience in an acute care environment.
One year of relevant teaching experience preferred, nursing
professional development and/or specialty area preferred. -
Experience as a preceptor.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Licensed Registered Nurse from the CT DPH obtained prior to hire
date.
NPD or Clinical Specialty Certification within two years of hire
hire/transfer
BLS required
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements -

Demonstrates ability to develop, deliver and evaluate educational
programs.
Working knowledge of high reliability and LEAN process improvement
strategies.
Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to education as a
methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the
delivery of patient care and services. -
Knowledge of the principles/theories of adult learning.
Knowledge of unit based orientation plans.
Strong skills in the process of educational needs assessments.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. -
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced
environment.
Must be able to work independently as well as part of a
collaborative team.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and strong skills in
excel.
